For Mexico, it's my understanding that you need either a valid passport, or a driver's license WITH a birth certificate. Soon, I believe, they are going to make it mandatory to have a passport.

I am mexican and I live in Monterrey, Mexico. No, you dont need a passport, just an ID, your drivers license will do it. And yes, soon you are going to need a passport

It depends, if you are going to stay in the country for more than 72 hours you don't need a visa: To get a visa just go to the Mexican Consulate in your city.
