I'm assuming you mean the clay used to make bricks in the desert southwest.

Adobe bricks are made out of mud and other organic materials including dung. The mixture is placed into a wooden mold where it hardens for a period of time in the sun. The completed bricks are used to build structures of all sizes.

Adobe is a type of brick used by Western Native Americans to build edifices. The brick is made out of mud, as I recall.

Adobe is a dried mixture of mud (clay) and straw. It is used in drier regions of mexico and US as construction materials for walls and houses. This material would not hold up in rainier places like Seattle since it would just turn back to mud as it got wet.
