You have to file a claim called Juicio Especial de Rectificación y Modificación de Actas del Estado Civil. You can begin this process in the Registro Civil of the municipality where your birth was registered. The first link below contains an instructive video on how to do this. Since you are Mexican by birth I trust you read and speak Spanish as all the info in the links is in Spanish.

I hope it works out for you.

What in the world are you worried about P ? Paulina is your first name and you will very likely be asked for the name on your BC for almost any subsequent Gov. Documents in the future.

They will only give you a Certified True Copy.

You can change your name at all levels but they will Not change anything that pertains to the registry of your birth. It is one of those things that are certain in this life "Death &Taxes" I see it as a system breakdown if everyone was allowed to change a Birth Certificate

That is your name Paulina , it was the Name you Parents registerd you as. Not much differnet than James and going by Jim on all other documents. OMG It`s almost like a Nickname. It`s un Nombre Bonita en mi opinion. Ciao

The original registration of your birth must say Paulina." You will probably need to live with it...just go by Paula, but on legal papers it will have to say Paulina. if there is an error on the original registration, you are stuck with it. Getting a birth certificate corrected in Mexico would be impossible. ...as you can see. just live with it. i live in mexico and have a friend here who tried to get a birth certificate corrected...wpent months, several trips to court and to the town where the birth was registered and spent MONEy, and never did get it corrected. Finally gave up.

I need to correct my birth certificate as it is misspelled and I have never used my name as it shows on my certificate. I have always used an alias but I need to ether amend the spelling or change my name all together. help[
