If you are alone and eating in restaurants you can spend $20.00 USD. a day and with the exchange rate average $6.50 us . The stops that a Bus would make are a little more than the cost of off route Mexican fast food joints as you know, things are that way in the USA. Mc Donalds are not much of a Bargain that often have sales for 99 cents in the USA. Bus station Junk food is as you would expect, very expensive, sometimes 3 times the cost of a Mom &Pop store just 4 blocks away. Remember that most banks exchange foreign currency into US dollars. Unless you already have plans to go to mexico it just might be better exchanging it.
