Well, they DO care! You need your green card and a photo i.d. to travel to Mexico by Land. If you are going past the border zone, you will get a tourist card good for up to 180 days. If you Fly to Mexico, you need your passport from your home country in addition to your green card.

just to cross the border you dont need anything...the mexicans dont care.....HOWEVER..if you travel deeper into mexico you will be stopped at a checkpoint and asked for some id and if you have a car you will need a bond and mexican insurance as well......getting back into the usa you WILL need to show your passport and other id

you dont need anything, you can just walk across. getting into the us is a tiny bit harder but on foot its just show some id and you're through
