Get the vehicle repaired in Monterrey.

1. It will be cheaper than the US

2. Tranny kits are readily available in Monterrey or they can order from a buddy in Laredo.

3. Less (or NO) hassle crossing the border after it has been repaired.

4. No doubt it will cost you some mordita $$ getting it across on a flat bed wrecker.

Do the smart thing . . .

Ya, they will just ask ya why you are towing a car and most likely search you a bit more than normal. Other wise, it has US plates, they aren't going to care. I assume you are going to get a towing company to take it, worst case they might stop the tower at the border and you have to call a US tower to come to the border and take you to a repair shop.

towing car can be used only inside the border, so you need to call another towing before crossing the border to carry your vehicle back to US. that's my guess only.

You cant simply tow it back you need to contact your local insurance broker and talk to them about it. If its wrecked then you have to get it fixed in mexico and have a cross border inspection. You will also need your cars papers and the cerial number to get it bavk across the border and possably proof of purchase

Why not call the U.S. border people and ask? They are the ones that will know. People around here are just going to speculate. Do you want a 'real' answer to your question or just a 'theoretical' answer? Talk to the people that know! Good luck.

As long as both vehicles are legal, towing is okay.
